We are supporting our client who is a leading technology company specializing in simulation model software products for energy markets and portfolio optimization. Their solutions empower clients in the North American electricity markets to make informed decisions and optimize their operations. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Energy Market Simulation Specialist to join team and contribute to the success of our cutting-edge software products.
Job Summary:
As an Nodal Advisory Consultant(Energy Market Simulation Specialist), your primary focus will be on the North American electricity markets, particularly RTO/ISOs such as ERCOT, NYISO, ISONE, PJM, MISO, and SPP. You will work closely with clients, utilizing simulation models and powerflow software, to develop long-term projections of electricity prices, capacity prices, and REC prices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop long-term projections (20-30 years) of electricity prices, capacity prices, and REC prices using simulation models and other relevant tools.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions based on their specific needs
- Evaluate renewable assets such as solar, wind, and battery storage, providing expertise in assessing their viability and impact on market dynamics.
- Utilize powerflow software (e.g., PSS/E, Tara, Powerworld) to analyze grid performance and support decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including software development and data analysis, to enhance product offerings and ensure accurate modeling capabilities.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes that may impact the North American electricity markets.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as electrical engineering, energy economics, or a related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
- 3-6 years of work experience in simulation model software products for energy markets or portfolio optimization in North American electricity markets to support clients effectively.
- Strong knowledge and experience with RTO/ISOs, particularly ERCOT, NYISO, ISONE, PJM, MISO, and SPP to ensure accurate modeling and analysis.
- Proficiency in PROMOD with the ability to conduct simulations, analyze results, and provide insightful recommendations.
- Familiarity with ISO's transmission planning process and renewable asset evaluations (solar, wind, battery) to support clients in their transmission planning activities.
- Experience using powerflow software such as PSS/E, Tara, or Powerworld.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and Power BI. Python skills are highly desirable.
- Strong teamwork, organizational skills, communication, and presentation skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and clients to manage multiple projects simultaneously along with excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data and present findings effectively
