Role Overview
We are hiring a Power Systems Principal Engineer for one of our client. You will join the FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) division, which focuses on enhancing power system capacity, stability, and sustainability through advanced high-voltage technologies. In this senior engineering role, you will ensure the dynamic performance of power converter control systems that comply with customer grid code requirements contributing to the efficiency and reliability of global power networks.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and improve base control system solutions and project-specific functionalities for FACTS applications.
- Take ownership of control system performance from project initiation to commissioning.
- Conduct PSCAD and RTDS simulations to verify and optimize dynamic control behavior.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and commissioning to validate system performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering disciplines, project managers, and R&D teams.
- Provide technical training, mentorship, and support to internal colleagues.
- Support tender activities, delivery projects, and R&D initiatives related to control system dynamics.
- Prepare technical reports and present verification results to customers.
- Engage in customer meetings to understand requirements and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders in an international setup.
Must-have
- Hold an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Have at least 15 years of experience in power systems and control systems engineering.
- Expert in control theory for high-power electronic converters and FACTS technologies.
- Proficient in simulation tools such as PSCAD, RTDS, and Hidraw (or similar).
- Hands-on experience with complex control development in MACH or C/C++-based systems.
- Solid understanding of control system verification and commissioning.
- Strong communicator with proven collaboration skills across teams and functions.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Analytical, independent, and proactive — with a structured approach to problem-solving.
- Comfortable working in a multicultural, dynamic, and international environment.
Good-to-have
- Experience in R&D, tender support, or system optimization.
- Knowledge of renewable integration, grid stability, or high-voltage transmission.
- Background in technical leadership or team mentoring.
