Role Overview
We are hiring a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer – HVDC Design Lead for one of our client. In this expert role, you will lead the design and delivery of auxiliary power systems for HVDC stations, including transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, batteries, UPS, power cables, selectivity studies, and cable/transit systems. You will coordinate internal and external stakeholders, ensure time and cost-efficient delivery with high quality, lead a team of skilled designers, manage contacts with other departments and suppliers, and drive electrical design in a global, high-reliability environment. This senior position requires advanced expertise in electrical engineering, leadership of complex designs, and the ability to work independently while mentoring others.
What You’ll Do
Lead design and delivery of auxiliary power systems and equipment for HVDC stations
Coordinate with internal teams, external suppliers, and stakeholders for complete scope delivery
Perform selectivity studies, equipment specification, cable/transit design, and system integration
Manage team tasks, project planning, and progress monitoring
Ensure compliance with quality, safety, time, and cost targets
Support installation/commissioning phases when required
Apply advanced engineering principles and tools for analyses, reports, and solutions
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements
Who You Are?
Must-Have Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 6 years of relevant experience (including leadership/management), OR another technical degree with 15+ years of relevant experience.
Proven expertise in auxiliary power systems, selectivity studies, or low-voltage equipment design/installation
Technical knowledge of transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, batteries, UPS, power cables
Fluent in spoken and written English (mandatory)
Valid SSG-Entré certificate
Ability to work flexibly with mandatory occasional on-site presence (Ludvika or Västerås)
Nice to Have
Knowledge of CAD tools for electrical circuit diagrams and layouts
Swedish language skills
