Role Overview
We are hiring a Senior Relay Protection Specialist on behalf of one of our clients to support multiple ongoing projects within the Control & Protection Engineering team in Västerås. In this expert role, you will develop high-quality relay protection solutions for substations in transmission and distribution grids, perform protection settings and selectivity studies, review technical documentation, and provide support to project managers, test leads, and installation teams during FAT/SAT and troubleshooting. This senior position requires deep expertise in relay protection design, strong understanding of power system behavior, and the ability to work independently in a project-driven environment.
What You’ll Do
Develop relay protection solutions (HE, GE, Siemens)
Perform protection settings calculations and selectivity studies
Review drawings, signal lists, and technical documentation
Support project managers, test leads, and installation teams
Participate in FAT/SAT activities and assist with troubleshooting in delivery projects
Ensure compliance with Svenska kraftnät (SvK) and Vattenfall standards/requirements
Deliver high-quality protection solutions within project timelines
Who You Are
Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent
Extensive experience in relay protection design, commissioning, or troubleshooting
Strong understanding of power system behavior and protection principles
Familiarity with IED platforms (ABB/Hitachi Energy, Siemens, Schneider)
Knowledge of SvK (Svenska kraftnät) and Vattenfall standards, processes, and technical requirements
Fluent in Swedish and English (both spoken and written – mandatory)
Valid SSG-Entré certificate
