About the role
Join a forward-thinking technology and digital engineering team as an MQ Administrator, where you’ll manage enterprise messaging platforms and contribute to cloud solutions and AI-powered digital transformation initiatives. You will ensure messaging systems are secure, reliable, and high-performing, while collaborating with infrastructure, development, and platform teams to support modern, event-driven architectures.
What you'll do
Deploy, configure, and maintain IBM MQ queue managers on Linux/Unix
Manage queues, channels, listeners, clusters, and high-availability setups
Implement security measures including TLS, certificates, and CHLAUTH
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents quickly
Plan capacity, support disaster recovery, and automate routine tasks
Provide infrastructure support for Kafka, Solace, or other event broker platforms
Define operational standards and enforce best practices for messaging
Who you are
Must Have
6–8+ years of hands-on experience managing IBM MQ in distributed environments
Deep understanding of MQ clustering, security configurations, and performance optimization
Solid experience working on Linux/Unix systems
Skilled in scripting or automation using Shell, Ansible, or Python
Proven track record in supporting enterprise-scale production messaging platforms
Based in Ireland with valid work authorization
Good to Have
Basic knowledge of SQL for platform management
Familiarity with Jenkins for CI/CD or automation tasks
Experience with RDMQ or similar messaging technologies
Interest in leveraging AI or automation tools to improve messaging operations
