Location: Västerås, Sweden (onsite preferred; some remote within Sweden possible)
Scope: Full Time (100%)
Period: 2026-05-15 to 2026-11-14 (Extension possible)
Language: Swedish and English (fluent in both spoken and written – mandatory)

Role Overview
We are looking for a Principal Relay Protection Engineer for one of our clients to support multiple ongoing projects in the Control & Protection Engineering team in Västerås. In this expert role, you will develop high-quality relay protection solutions for substations in the transmission and distribution grid, perform protection settings and selectivity studies, review technical documentation, and provide support during FAT/SAT and troubleshooting.
What You’ll Do
Develop relay protection solutions (Hitachi Energy, GE, Siemens)
Perform protection settings calculations and selectivity studies
Review drawings, signal lists, and technical documentation
Support project managers, test leads, and installation teams
Participate in FAT/SAT and assist with troubleshooting in delivery projects
Who You Are
Must-Have Requirements:
Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent
Significant experience in relay protection design, commissioning, or troubleshooting
Strong understanding of power system behavior and protection principles
Familiarity with IED platforms (ABB/Hitachi Energy, Siemens, Schneider)
Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English (mandatory)
Valid SSG-Entré certificate
Ability to work primarily onsite in Västerås (some remote within Sweden possible)
Nice to Have:
Knowledge of SvK (Svenska kraftnät) and Vattenfall standards, processes, and technical requirements
