Role Overview
We are hiring for one of our clients and are looking for an experienced Senior CAPEX Construction Category Manager to lead strategic sourcing and procurement activities for large-scale construction and capital investment projects. In this role, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing processes, supplier selection, contract negotiations, category strategy development, and supplier performance management. You will play a key role in ensuring that procurement activities support business objectives while delivering value through cost optimization, risk mitigation, quality, sustainability, and supplier performance. This position requires a strong background in CAPEX construction procurement, strategic sourcing, contract management, and stakeholder collaboration within complex project environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end sourcing activities for CAPEX construction projects including building services, process equipment, construction works, and technical contractors
Develop and execute category strategies using the CIPS process, aligned with business strategy and ensuring supplier capability for current and future requirements
Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, emerging trends, and best practices within the CAPEX construction industry
Manage supplier identification, qualification, selection, and contracting focusing on quality, delivery, cost, sustainability, and risk
Lead commercial negotiations and contract development; adapt corporate contractual frameworks to local business needs
Provide and maintain standard terms and conditions in purchase contracts in line with company directives and guidelines
Manage procurement planning, cost budgets, savings targets, spending forecasts, and emerging country spending tracking
Oversee supplier performance management and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Minimize commercial and quality risk through compliance with procurement procedures and company guidelines
Ensure HSE, regulatory, and quality compliance across all project phases
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across engineering, construction, project management, and operations in a matrix environment
Support project teams throughout procurement and execution phases
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management within large-scale CAPEX construction projects
Proven track record of developing and implementing global category strategies
Strong understanding of technical categories within capital projects: building services, process equipment, construction works, and technical contractors
Experience with contract management, supplier negotiations, and supplier performance management
Outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously with minimal oversight in a matrix organization
Strong project management and stakeholder management skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Project, and SAP Ariba or similar procurement platforms
Fluent English, both spoken and written (mandatory)
Valid SSG-Entré certificate
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in the energy or industrial infrastructure sector (strongly preferred)
Multi-lingual: English + Swedish + additional foreign language is advantageous
Experience managing global or international procurement categories
Superior negotiation skills in intercultural, multi-business environments with ability to align terms and pricing with business objectives
Experience in matrix or international organizations
Strong understanding of industrial construction and infrastructure projects
