Role Overview
We are hiring for one of our clients and are looking for an experienced Senior Project Management Engineer (PME) to join substation engineering projects in Västerås. In this role, you will lead and coordinate engineering execution across multi-disciplinary teams for high-voltage substation projects (10–400kV). You will act as the technical lead for engineering delivery, ensuring alignment between design, construction, commissioning, and customer requirements. You will be responsible for driving engineering coordination, managing stakeholders, and ensuring successful project execution in accordance with quality, safety, financial, and schedule targets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate engineering activities across multi-disciplinary teams (15–50 resources)
Act as technical design authority for engineering deliverables
Ensure engineering outputs are complete, validated, and aligned across all disciplines
Coordinate installation, commissioning, and site activities
Provide technical support during testing, commissioning, and startup phases
Manage engineering communication with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Develop engineering proposals, estimates, and technical documentation
Perform risk analysis and identify project risks and opportunities
Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, HSE standards, and quality processes
Plan and manage engineering resources in accordance with project governance
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within engineering execution
Support resolution of technical issues and engineering deviations
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Minimum 6 years of experience managing projects of varying size, complexity, and contractual types
Minimum 10 years of experience in substation engineering or power infrastructure projects (10–400kV)
Strong experience in engineering project management or lead engineering roles
Experience with GIS (Gas Insulated Substations) projects (preferred)
Experience from substation tenders and site execution (advantage)
Strong understanding of engineering coordination and multi-disciplinary delivery
Proven experience managing technical teams and complex engineering scopes
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Fluent in Swedish and English (spoken and written)
Valid SSG-Entré certificate
Swedish citizenship (mandatory due to security clearance requirements)
