About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Center Operations Consultant to lead the review, verification, and standardization of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method of Procedures (MOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) for live mission-critical data center facilities.
The consultant will be responsible for validating existing operational documentation, ensuring technical accuracy against installed infrastructure, aligning procedures with best international practices, and minimizing operational risks while maintaining uninterrupted data center operations.
This assignment requires extensive experience working within live production data centers where maintenance and operational activities are executed without impacting critical services.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive technical reviews of existing SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs.
Verify operational procedures against installed infrastructure, approved design documentation, and as-built drawings.
Validate operational documentation for:
Technical accuracy
Operational safety
Business continuity
Equipment protection
Personnel safety
Service availability
Ensure documentation complies with organizational operational policies, maintenance philosophy, change management processes, and operational governance.
Review procedures against OEM operation and maintenance manuals, operating limitations, warranty requirements, and manufacturer recommendations.
Validate compliance with internationally recognized standards including:
Uptime Institute Operational Standards
ASHRAE
NFPA
ISO
IEC
Mission-critical data center operational best practices
Review and validate MOPs to ensure inclusion of:
Risk assessments
Prerequisites
Isolation requirements
Required permits
Rollback procedures
Communication plans
Contingency actions
Post-maintenance verification
Review SOPs for:
Normal operating procedures
Monitoring requirements
Operating limits
Alarm response
Roles and responsibilities
Escalation procedures
Documentation requirements
Review EOPs for:
Emergency response workflows
Decision trees
Recovery procedures
Communication plans
Service restoration processes
Identify operational gaps, missing procedures, conflicting instructions, and documentation inconsistencies.
Recommend improvements to enhance operational resilience, maintainability, efficiency, and standardization.
Incorporate stakeholder feedback and produce finalized operational documentation.
Develop compliance matrices and gap analysis reports.
Prepare executive summaries outlining key findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related discipline.
10+ years of experience within mission-critical data center operations or engineering.
Extensive experience reviewing, developing, and validating SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs for live mission-critical data centers.
Strong understanding of critical facility operations and maintenance.
Experience working in production environments where maintenance activities are executed without service interruption.
Deep knowledge of operational risk management and change management processes.
Familiarity with Uptime Institute operational practices, ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO, IEC, and other relevant standards.
Excellent technical documentation and report writing skills.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
