About the Role
Are you an experienced IBM MQ professional with a strong focus on reliability, automation, and production support?
We are looking for an experienced SRE / IBM MQ Engineer for our client in Dublin. You will be responsible for maintaining reliable and secure enterprise messaging platforms, with a focus on IBM MQ administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, automation, and continuous improvement.
You will work closely with application and infrastructure teams to ensure critical messaging services remain stable, performant, and highly available.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM MQ queue managers across Linux/Unix environments.
Manage queues, channels, listeners, clusters, and high-availability configurations.
Maintain MQ security, including TLS, certificates, and CHLAUTH.
Monitor messaging platforms and proactively address queue, channel, performance, and delivery issues.
Troubleshoot MQ, application, and production incidents and drive issues through to resolution.
Manage cluster balancing, platform upgrades, certificate renewals, and OS patching.
Support capacity planning and disaster recovery testing.
Build and improve operational automation using Shell, Ansible, Python, or similar tools.
Support event-driven platforms such as NATS, Kafka, and Solace from an infrastructure perspective.
Use monitoring, automation, and operational tools to improve platform reliability.
Establish and maintain messaging platform standards and operational best practices.
Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support critical production services.
Requirements
Must Have
Minimum 6–8+ years of IBM MQ administration experience in distributed enterprise environments.
Strong expertise in MQ clustering, security, configuration, and performance tuning.
Solid experience with Linux/Unix environments.
Hands-on experience with Shell, Ansible, Python, or similar scripting/automation.
Experience supporting large-scale production messaging systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with monitoring tools.
Experience with event-driven platforms or event brokers.
Experience with RDMQ.
Experience troubleshooting applications and production environments.
Good to Have
Experience with NATS, Kafka, or Solace.
Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, or IBM Tivoli.
Experience with Jenkins, Bitbucket, or Digital.ai Release (XLR).
Basic SQL knowledge.
