Sperton Global AS, a global recruitment and consulting firm with entities across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, is partnering with our client, a global leader in power and technology, to hire Field Service Engineer for their U.S. Service team. This is a full-time, field-based role requiring up to 80% travel to customer sites, supporting high-voltage substation equipment (69kV–550kV).
Role Overview
The Field Service Engineer will plan, execute, and lead technical field assignments involving installation, modification, testing, commissioning, and repair of high-voltage equipment. This position requires immediate availability for first-response field operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform field service operations to resolve both routine and complex technical issues.
- Install, commission, and maintain high-voltage substation equipment (69kV–550kV).
- Supervise contractors and electricians provided by the company or customer.
- Conduct field testing (SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, contact resistance, etc.).
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on high-voltage equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment using advanced test tools.
- Analyze test data, prepare detailed reports, and make technical recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Travel up to 80%, working in varied environments and non-standard schedules.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in high-voltage substations and equipment (>69kV), including supervising installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Proven experience working with SF₆ circuit breakers.
- Experience working with power utilities, substations, and transformers.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with operating test equipment such as CB timers, power factor testers, TTR, CT testers, and Meggers.
- Knowledge of Windows applications.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship).
