Key Responsibilities – Tendering, Estimation, and Cost Analysis
- Prepare accurate and detailed estimates and tender submissions in response to client enquiries, RFQs, and RFPs.
- Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to develop comprehensive cost breakdowns and solution proposals.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to gather required information for successful tender preparation.
- Conduct risk assessments and value engineering reviews to optimise tender offerings and enhance competitiveness.
- Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, negotiating terms to ensure value for money and compliance with tender requirements.
- Present tender documentation internally for approvals, ensuring compliance with internal processes and governance standards.
- Track, monitor, and report on the status of submitted tenders, providing updates and insights to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in post-tender clarifications, value engineering sessions, and negotiations with clients.
Essential Skills and Experience – Cost Estimating, Tender Preparation, and Collaboration
- Proven experience in tendering, estimation, or quantity surveying, ideally within engineering, construction, services, or a technical environment.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy in preparing costings and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, for engaging effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients.
- Skilled in using estimation tools, spreadsheets, and digital platforms for efficient tender preparation and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders, prioritise deliverables, and work to strict deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Resilient and adaptable with a solutions-focused approach to challenges and changing requirements.
Qualifications and Desirable Attributes – Tendering, Estimation, and Industry Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Professional qualifications or certifications in estimation, procurement, or relevant areas are advantageous.
- Knowledge of industry standards, procurement processes, and commercial contract principles.
- Strong organisational skills, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
