About the Role
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong experience in Apache Kafka. You will design, build, and maintain resilient, event-driven systems, automate processes, and manage cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and manage Apache Kafka: configure topics, manage partitions, monitor metrics, troubleshoot issues.
- Work with other messaging platforms such as NATS or MQ as needed.
- Build automation scripts and integrations using Python, Go, Java, or Bash.
- Manage Linux/Unix systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Implement observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog) and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply security best practices and compliance standards (SOC 2, GDPR).
Qualifications:
- 4–8 years of hands-on experience in software development, SRE, or systems administration.
- Strong knowledge of Kafka architecture, including brokers, topics, partitions, and replicas.
- Experience with Kafka security, including SSL, SASL, and ACLs.
- Proficiency in configuring, deploying, and managing Kafka clusters in cloud and on-premises environments.
- Experience with Kafka stream processing using tools like Kafka Streams, KSQL, or Apache Flink.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, data streaming, and messaging patterns.
- Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python for Kafka-related development tasks.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging.
- Experience with tools like Zookeeper, Schema Registry, and Kafka Connect.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a distributed environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be based in Ireland or have a valid work permit for Dublin.
