About the Role
Our client, a leading organization in the printing and packaging industry, is seeking an experienced Head of Arts & Design
to lead all creative, artwork, and prepress operations.
The ideal candidate will bring over 15 years of hands-on experience in packaging design, prepress workflows, GMG profiling, color management, and team leadership.
This role requires a professional who can ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely delivery of all artwork and prepress outputs while coordinating closely with production and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Arts, Design, and Prepress team with clear strategy and performance direction.
- Develop and optimize workflows for creative design, artwork adaptation, and prepress.
- Train the team on Adobe Suite, Esko, PackZ, GMG, and AI-based design tools.
- Oversee all packaging artworks, publications, and visual materials.
- Ensure artwork accuracy including die-lines, measurements, text layout, trapping, bleed, and cylinder specifications.
- Manage color separations, profiling, proofing parameters, and print-ready file preparation.
- Implement and maintain CMS and GMG-based color accuracy.
- Coordinate closely with gravure and flexographic printing teams.
- Introduce automation and hybrid workflows to reduce rework and print defects.
- Collaborate with Production, Printing, Sales, R&D, and Procurement teams.
- Participate in project briefings and internal review meetings.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in packaging design, prepress, and color management.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Esko, PackZ, and GMG Profiling.
- Understanding of gravure and flexographic printing, cylinders, proofing, and press parameters.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication in English and Urdu (Arabic/Persian typesetting is a plus).
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Arts, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in creative design, packaging, prepress, and CMS.
- Gulf experience preferred.
- Previous experience as Head of Prepress & CMS or similar leadership role in printing/packaging industry.
- Experience in publishing, advertising campaigns, mock-ups, and photography is an advantage.
