Senior UI/UX DesignerJob Summary:
The Senior UI/UX Designer will play a strategic leadership role in shaping the design vision and user experience strategy across multiple digital products and platforms. This position requires a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, business objectives, and emerging design trends to deliver innovative, intuitive, and impactful user experiences.As a senior member of the product and design team, the designer will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders—including product managers, engineers, and business leaders—to translate complex requirements into elegant design solutions. The role involves leading end-to-end design processes, mentoring junior designers, driving design standards, and ensuring consistency and quality across all touchpoints.Key responsibilities include conducting user research, developing personas and journey maps, creating wireframes and prototypes, and delivering high-fidelity visual designs. The Senior UI/UX Designer will also be responsible for advocating for the user, influencing product strategy, and contributing to the evolution of the design system.Key Responsibilities:Lead User Research & Strategy:Drive comprehensive user research initiatives to uncover deep insights into user behaviour, needs, and pain points. Translate these findings into strategic design decisions that align with business goals and enhance user satisfaction.Design Leadership & Vision:Define and champion the design vision across products and platforms. Set high standards for design quality, usability, and accessibility, while ensuring alignment with brand and product strategy.Advanced Design Execution:Create and oversee the development of wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs. Ensure designs are scalable, responsive, and optimized for various devices and platforms.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Partner closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure design feasibility, technical alignment, and seamless implementation. Act as a bridge between design and engineering teams.Design System Governance:Establish, maintain, and evolve design systems and style guides to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across all digital touchpoints.Usability Testing & Iteration:Plan and conduct usability testing sessions, analyze feedback, and iterate designs to continuously improve user experience and product performance.Mentorship & Team Development:Mentor junior designers, provide constructive feedback, and foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning within the design team.Innovation & Trend Monitoring:Stay abreast of emerging UI/UX trends, tools, and technologies. Proactively introduce new ideas and methodologies to keep the design practice forward-thinking and competitive.Accessibility & Inclusivity:Advocate for inclusive design practices and ensure all products meet accessibility standards, providing equitable experiences for all users. Required Skills & Experience:Design Expertise
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Illustrator for creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs.
- Strong grasp of user-centred design principles, including empathy mapping, persona development, and journey mapping.
- Advanced prototyping skills using tools like Figma, InVision, or Axure to simulate user interactions and validate design concepts.
- Visual design excellence, with a keen eye for typography, layout, colour theory, and branding consistency.
Technical Knowledge
- Responsive design proficiency, ensuring seamless experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Accessibility standards (WCAG) awareness and implementation to create inclusive and compliant digital experiences.
- Basic front-end understanding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to effectively communicate with developers and assess design feasibility.
- Experience working with design systems, component libraries, and maintaining style guides for consistency and scalability.
Research & Testing
- Conducting and synthesizing user research through interviews, surveys, and analytics to inform design decisions.
- Usability testing and iteration, including planning test scenarios, gathering feedback, and refining designs based on insights.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to align design with business and technical goals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and influence decision-making.
- Mentorship capabilities, supporting junior designers and contributing to team growth and design culture.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience in UI/UX design across web and mobile platforms.
- A strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final UI designs.
- Experience working in Agile or product-driven environments, with exposure to iterative design and rapid prototyping.
