Role Overview
We are hiring a Junior R&D Verification and Validation Engineer for one of our client in Västerås. In this role, you will perform product and system testing on protection and control products (e.g., Relion 670/650 series) used in substation automation during product development. You will work in a small team of test engineers under the guidance of a test lead, focusing on creating test specifications, configuring products/systems, setting up test environments, executing tests, automating test cases when possible, documenting results, and ensuring electrical safety. This position suits you if you have a technical background in electrical engineering or substation automation, enjoy hands-on testing, and want to grow in a structured R&D environment with clear processes and tools.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain test specifications based on product requirements
Configure products and systems according to specifications and substation standards
Set up test environments with auxiliary equipment, wiring, and supervision
Automate test cases where possible
Execute verification and validation tests
Report and document test results
Ensure electrical safety during testing
Communicate results back to design teams
Who You Are
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with 2–6 years of relevant experience, or another technical degree with 10–15 years of relevant work experience.
Practical experience (2–5 years) in substation automation, working with protection relays and/or systems
Good knowledge of substation automation and standards (e.g., IEC 61850)
Good knowledge of communication protocols and systems
Fluent in English and Swedish (both spoken and written – mandatory)
Valid SSG-Entré certificate
