Role Overview
We are hiring a Senior Application Specialist – Siemens Polarion ALM for one of our clients in Västerås or Ludvika. In this senior role, you will apply your strong IS application expertise to develop, configure, and customize solutions within the Siemens Polarion ALM environment, supporting global business needs across the full application lifecycle. You will work independently to implement and optimize ALM processes, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate with engineering, quality, and IT teams. This role also involves Polarion system administration, workflow configuration, integrations, reporting, and user support, ensuring adherence to ALM best practices, data integrity, and traceability requirements. This position requires hands-on technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to guide and support colleagues while contributing to process improvements and compliance.
What You’ll Do
Develop and customize Siemens Polarion ALM solutions to meet project and business requirements
Configure workflows, document structures, forms, fields, and user roles within Polarion
Implement custom functionalities, including workflow automations, trigger scripts, macros, LiveReports, and Velocity scripting
Design and maintain dashboards and reports using Polarion LiveDocs, LiveReports, and Velocity scripting
Implement and maintain integrations between Polarion and other enterprise tools using REST APIs, SDKs, and OSLC standards
Support requirements management, test management, defect tracking, and change control across the full ALM lifecycle
Troubleshoot configuration and performance issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes
Perform Polarion system administration, upgrades, and maintenance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and engineering needs into scalable ALM solutions
Ensure data integrity, traceability, and adherence to ALM best practices
Create technical documentation and support or train end users
Who You Are
Must-Have Requirements:
3–5 years of work experience in a relevant field and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or another IT degree with more than 15 years of work experience in a relevant field.
Strong hands-on experience with Siemens Polarion ALM as a developer and configurator
Experience with workflow customization, scripting, macros, LiveReports, and Velocity
Proficiency in Java and REST API integrations
Solid understanding of ALM/SDLC concepts including requirements, testing, defects, baselines, and change management (Agile and/or Waterfall)
API Specification Awareness (Swagger / OpenAPI): Awareness of OpenAPI/Swagger concepts and ability to work with Polarion REST API specifications and related tooling (e.g., Swagger UI).
Experience integrating Polarion with other engineering, DevOps, or enterprise tools
Familiarity with Polarion system administration, configuration, upgrades, and performance monitoring
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience creating technical documentation and training end-users
Fluent in spoken and written English
Valid SSG-Entré certificate
Nice to have:
Strong written and verbal skills in Swedish (meritorious)
Familiarity with OSLC standards is a plus
