Director of Technology
Lead technology strategy, scalable SaaS architecture and a global engineering team — shaping innovative products and driving growth alongside executive leadership.
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Director of Technology to lead technology strategy, software architecture, engineering execution, and technical innovation for a growing organization.
This role was initially defined as a Chief Technology Officer position and has since been aligned to a Director of Technology level. The ideal candidate will bring strong technology leadership experience combined with deep technical expertise across enterprise SaaS platforms, cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, AI/ML, and modern software engineering.
You will work closely with the CEO and executive leadership to translate business objectives into scalable technology strategies while leading a globally distributed engineering organization.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both the strategic and technical levels — providing technology vision while remaining engaged in architecture, technical design, engineering decisions, and product development.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute the company's technology strategy in alignment with business objectives.
Develop technology roadmaps that support product strategy, scalability, revenue growth, cybersecurity, and operational excellence.
Serve as a trusted technology advisor to the CEO and executive leadership.
Evaluate technology investments and ensure they deliver measurable business value.
Establish and continuously improve engineering standards, development methodologies, and best practices.
Software Architecture & Engineering
Architect, build, and scale enterprise-grade SaaS platforms using modern cloud-native technologies.
Lead architecture decisions across distributed systems, microservices, APIs, data platforms, and highly scalable applications.
Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design discussions, and strategic engineering decisions.
Maintain strong awareness of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI.
Ensure solutions are designed for scalability, security, reliability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
Preferably bring strong experience within the Java ecosystem and modern enterprise software development.
Product Development
Lead the development and evolution of commercial software products from concept through market delivery.
Work closely with product and business stakeholders to translate customer and market requirements into technical solutions.
Support the development of scalable, high-quality products that meet customer and commercial objectives.
Establish world-class software development and engineering practices across the organization.
Engineering Team Leadership
Lead and develop a distributed technology organization of approximately 10–15 IT professionals.
Build a high-performing engineering culture focused on accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Mentor technical leaders and engineers and support their professional development.
Establish effective communication and collaboration practices across distributed teams.
Manage and scale the technology organization as business requirements evolve.
Executive & Commercial Partnership
Partner closely with the CEO and CFO to develop technology-driven business strategies.
Support customer acquisition and enterprise software sales through technical expertise and presentations.
Present technology vision, architecture, and product capabilities to customers, investors, strategic partners, and executive stakeholders.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear business and commercial outcomes.
Investment, Fundraising & Business Growth
Participate in fundraising activities, including:
Venture capital discussions
Private equity discussions
Investor presentations
Technology due diligence
Strategic technology assessments
Ideally contribute to IPO readiness or public-market preparation activities.
Help align technology investment decisions with revenue growth and long-term business strategy.
Required Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of technology/software engineering experience, with significant leadership responsibility.
Progressive experience in technology leadership, software architecture, engineering management, or technology management.
Demonstrated experience architecting and scaling enterprise-grade SaaS or commercial software platforms.
Strong technical knowledge of AI/ML, with exposure to Generative AI and Agentic AI systems.
Experience leading engineering teams and establishing scalable software development practices.
Ability to remain technically engaged in architecture reviews, system design, and major engineering decisions.
Experience partnering with executive leadership and presenting technology strategy to senior stakeholders.
Strong commercial understanding of how technology impacts revenue, customer acquisition, product strategy, scalability, cybersecurity, and operational efficiency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong stakeholder management and executive presence.
U.S. work authorization is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong experience within the Java technology ecosystem.
Experience developing multiple commercial software products from concept to market.
Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, Agentic AI, AI platforms, or AI product strategy.
Experience supporting enterprise software sales and customer acquisition.
Previous exposure to VC/PE fundraising, investor presentations, technology due diligence, or IPO readiness.
Experience managing globally distributed engineering organizations.
Previous experience working directly with Boards, investors, CEOs, and other executive stakeholders.
