Job Title: Production Quality Engineer
Location: On-site, Mansfield, MA
Role Overview:
The Production Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing product quality on the production floor, ensuring compliance with quality specifications, and implementing continuous improvements. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality control within the plastics and thermoforming industries, along with strong problem-solving abilities. This role requires a hands-on approach, working closely with production teams to maintain and enhance quality standards in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure product quality and compliance on the production floor.
- Train and mentor operators and quality inspectors.
- Inspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and products.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance during production.
- Collaborate with production managers on quality controls and improvements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve real-time production quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality regulations.
- Develop and implement corrective actions for identified quality issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in the plastics industry.
- Experience working directly on the production floor is required.
- ASQ certification is preferred.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, noisy environment with PPE and varying temperatures.
Additional Information:
- Work Environment: 90% of time spent on the production floor ensuring quality and training staff.
- Challenges: Must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in various environmental conditions.
- Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Vice President of Quality.
