Role Overview
The R&D Electrical Engineer, High Voltage Fuses will lead lab testing and development efforts for high-voltage components, with a focus on understanding and enhancing fuse technologies, particularly expulsion fuses. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in electrical engineering, initiative, and a problem-solving mindset to drive project success. Power Systems Engineering experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development projects for high-voltage components, with a focus on fuse technologies, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Research and analyze IEEE standards to guide technology development and testing initiatives.
- Develop technical concepts, design products, and conduct simulations to predict performance.
- Coordinate and oversee prototyping and lab testing activities to validate designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and production, to share findings and ensure smooth knowledge transfer.
- Demonstrate initiative by independently sourcing information, identifying solutions, and driving projects to completion.
- Stay informed on advancements in fuse design, manufacturing, and relevant market trends.
Your Background
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field. A concentration in Power Systems Engineering is preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in a related field, such as electrical components, transformer protection devices, or manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with fuse design and structure, even at a research or theoretical level, is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools (e.g., Creo Pro/E) and simulation software (e.g., Ansys, COMSOL) is a plus.
- Exposure to working with industry standards (e.g., IEEE) and a willingness to learn and apply them in projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate across teams to achieve project goals.
- Knowledge of R&D lab testing and manufacturing processes is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset to navigate complex challenges.
