About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in heavy civil construction (earthwork, paving, utilities, and structures). This role is pivotal in preconstruction efforts, serving as the primary liaison with design teams and owners while developing comprehensive cost estimates for complex transit, highway, and civil infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead estimating efforts on assigned pursuits with minimal oversight.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, unit pricing, and comprehensive cost estimates.
- Analyze crew compositions, production rates, and equipment requirements.
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Oversee junior estimators and interns during takeoffs and vendor coordination.
- Develop and communicate bid strategies; present estimates to leadership and owners.
Expertise Areas:
- Earthwork & Grading – geotechnical review, mass haul analysis, production studies.
- Paving (Concrete & Asphalt) – quarry/pit sourcing, mix designs, incentive/penalty considerations.
- Underground Utilities – trench safety, assembly takeoffs (valves, hydrants, etc.), backfill planning.
- Bridges & Structures – falsework/formwork, post-tensioning, crane/erection planning.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of estimating experience (heavy civil preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (or equivalent technical training/experience).
- Advanced proficiency in HCSS; strong skills in MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to lead estimates and serve as primary point of contact.
- LEED or DBIA certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain).
