About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – Import Operations to manage and supervise end-to-end import clearance activities. The role requires strong knowledge of customs procedures, EXIM policies, DGFT regulations, and hands-on G-Card experience.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate complete Import Operations with strict compliance to customs laws and EXIM policies.
Prepare, verify, and approve Import Documents (Invoice, Packing List, BL, COO, Insurance).
Represent the company at Customs using G-Card privileges—documentation, cargo examination, clearance processes.
Liaise with Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders, and Transporters for timely cargo movement.
Track shipment schedules, clearance timelines, and control detention/demurrage costs.
Validate HS Codes, Duty Structures, and applicable exemption notifications.
Maintain Import Registers, MIS reports, and License Utilization data.
Support vendor coordination, freight negotiation, and overall cost optimization.
Ensure timely payment of Customs Duty, Freight, and Insurance.
Lead and mentor the Import Documentation team to ensure process adherence.
Required Skills & Experience
Valid G-Card is mandatory.
Strong knowledge of the Customs Act, EXIM policy, DGFT regulations, STPI/SEZ procedures.
Experience in STP/SEZ/EOU/EHTP/BTP/MOOWR compliances is a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office & Outlook.
Strong communication, coordination & leadership skills.
Ability to handle multiple shipments simultaneously with accuracy.
