About the Role
Step into a strategic IP Transactions position where you will shape high-value patent acquisitions and licensing strategies that drive innovation and business success. What You'll Do
Draft, review, and negotiate patent licenses; assist with patent acquisitions and dispositions
Lead structuring and negotiation of IP ownership in joint development and collaboration agreements
Collaborate with corporate, M&A, finance, and litigation teams on IP-driven transactions
Conduct IP diligence for M&A and strategic deals, evaluating ownership, encumbrances, and transferability
Manage and drive transactional workstreams, coordinating with internal teams and counterparties
Prepare concise issue summaries and provide clear recommendations on complex patent matters
Who You Are
3–8 years of law firm experience focused on patent acquisition and licensing
JD from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
Technical or engineering undergraduate degree
Experienced in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating patent licenses and acquisition agreements
Skilled in managing end-to-end transactional workstreams independently
Proficient in IP diligence for M&A and strategic transactions, including chain-of-title analysis
Familiar with broader IP and tech transactions, including enterprise licensing and commercial agreements
Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills, with ability to build and maintain professional relationships
Eligible for North Carolina bar admission or currently barred
Willing to work primarily in the Charlotte office
