Truck/Lorry Workshop Manager

Position Details:
Location: Meru, Setia Alam, Puncak Alam
Salary Range: RM8,000 – RM10,000
Job Purpose
The Technical Manager / Senior Manager is responsible for leading and managing end-to-end workshop operations, ensuring high fleet reliability, optimal maintenance performance, cost efficiency, and compliance with technical, safety, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Workshop Operations Management
Oversee daily workshop operations and maintenance activities
Ensure timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance
Manage work order planning, prioritisation, and turnaround time (TAT)
Ensure high fleet availability and minimal downtime
2. Technical Governance & Quality Control
Establish and enforce technical standards and SOPs
Approve repair methods and major component replacements
Ensure quality assurance before vehicle release
Conduct technical audits and root cause analysis (RCA)
3. Workforce Management
Lead and manage workshop manpower including outsource teams
Define clear reporting structures and eliminate role ambiguity
Monitor productivity, performance, and output
Drive competency development, training, and upskilling
4. Asset Reliability & Maintenance Strategy
Develop preventive maintenance (PM) strategies and schedules
Monitor MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) and breakdown trends
Drive fleet reliability and uptime improvement initiatives
Manage lifecycle planning and major overhauls
5. Spare Parts & Inventory Control
Ensure availability of critical spare parts
Manage inventory levels, reorder points, and wastage control
Monitor parts consumption trends
Work with procurement for cost optimisation
6. Cost Control & Budget Management
Control maintenance cost per vehicle
Track repair and operational costs
Identify inefficiencies and cost leakages
Optimise in-house vs outsourced maintenance
7. Data, Reporting & KPIs
Monitor KPIs such as uptime, TAT, PM compliance, breakdown rate, and cost per km/unit
Ensure accurate data capture and reporting integrity
Drive data-based decision-making
8. Vendor & Contractor Management (3rd party)
Manage vendor/3rd party team workforce performance and SLA compliance
Ensure adherence to company instructions and contract terms
Conduct performance reviews and enforce accountability
9. Continuous Improvement & Digitalisation
Drive process improvement and operational efficiency
Implement digital tools (e.g., ProAct or similar systems)
Improve workshop workflow, layout, and productivity
Lead audit readiness and operational excellence initiatives
10. Safety, Compliance & 5S
Enforce 5S standards across workshop operations
Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and structured workspace management
Implement and monitor safety protocols and PPE compliance
Ensure full regulatory compliance (DOSH, JPJ, internal audits)
Maintain proper signage, zoning, and storage systems
Requirements :
SPM/Diploma/bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
8-10 years of experience preferable in Automative Industry.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Hands-on exposure to preventive maintenance and breakdown management
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities.
Strong analytical and KPI-driven mindset
Experience in vendor and cost management
Computer literate with experience in maintenance systems or reporting tools is an advantage.
Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
