Role Overview
We are hiring an experienced Medical Malpractice Claims Specialist for one of our client to join their Orange County office. In this role, you will manage a caseload of highly complex claims, oversee litigation activities, and play a key part in training and mentoring less experienced team members. Your analytical mindset and deep understanding of medical and legal processes will be crucial to achieving successful claim resolutions.
What You’ll Do
- Manage medical malpractice claims, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and legal standards.
- Direct and oversee defense counsel, ensuring effective case handling.
- Conduct investigations: review medical records, interview involved parties, and gather expert opinions.
- Prepare case evaluation reports for internal committees and discretionary review.
- Lead and support litigation activities including mediation, arbitration, and negotiation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the claims database.
- Provide mentorship and training to Claims Specialist I & II team members.
- Monitor ongoing cases, track progress, and ensure efficient communication across all stakeholders.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in law, healthcare administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of medical malpractice claims management experience (or 3+ years general claims experience).
- Strong analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in claims documentation systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Collaborative mindset with leadership or mentoring experience.
