Job Description – O&M Head
Location: Coimbatore
Working days: 6days
Work timings: 10am-6pm
Job Summary
The State Head is responsible for overseeing all business activities within the assigned state, including sales, project execution, customer service, operations, and stakeholder management.
The role ensures that wind projects are successfully delivered, state-level targets are met, customer relationships are strengthened, and regulatory obligations are fulfilled.
This is a leadership role requiring strong technical understanding, commercial acumen, and team management capability.
Key Responsibilities
Project lifecycle management
Project planning: Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies to commissioning and handover.
Site selection and development: Identify potential sites and manage the process of obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
Ensure timely execution of wind projects, including land acquisition, permitting, logistics, installation, and commissioning.
Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, construction, and SCADA/commissioning teams to ensure quality and safety compliance.
Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
· Oversee daily operations of wind farms, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
· Implement operational excellence programs, predictive maintenance initiatives, and SCADA optimization.
· Ensure compliance with safety standards (HSE), environmental regulations, and industry best practices
Ensure KPIs such as turbine availability, energy generation, and service response times are met.
Drive operational excellence, asset optimization, and performance improvement initiatives.
Preventive Maintenance
Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on MADE WTGs according to OEM manuals, including lubrication, torquing, alignment checks, and component inspections.
Perform detailed inspection of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems including gearbox, generator, yaw system, pitch system, tower components, and transformers.
Conduct SCADA-based performance checks, trend analysis, and diagnostic routines to identify early signs of component degradation.
Replace consumables, filters, and worn components per maintenance schedule.
Document all maintenance activities, inspection findings, and measurement values (e.g., oil samples, vibration levels, temperature readings) in the CMMS.
Financial and strategic oversight
Budget and resource management: Manage project budgets, monitor performance, and optimize resource allocation.
Business development: Drive business development efforts and identify new growth opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
Energy market analysis: Oversee power trading and energy market analysis to design strategies for portfolio optimization.
Drive sales growth for turbine supply, EPC, and O&M service contracts.
Build strong relationships with wind farm developers, IPPs, utilities, government bodies, and large industrial clients.
Oversee contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and project bidding.
Compliance and risk management
Regulatory compliance: Ensure adherence to all permitting, regulatory, and EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) standards.
Quality assurance: Implement quality control and risk mitigation measures to maintain project integrity and minimize environmental impact.
Conflict resolution: Address and resolve on-ground challenges, site-level conflicts, and contractual issues with partners.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all HSE rules, LOTO procedures, and work-at-height requirements during nacelle, hub, and tower operations.
Ensure maintenance work complies with OEM specifications and internal quality standards.
Participate in regular safety drills, toolbox talks, and emergency response training.
Team and stakeholder management
Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams (sales, project managers, O&M engineers, support staff).
Set performance targets, monitor KPIs, and drive capability development.
Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and high performance.
Regulatory & Stakeholder Management
Maintain strong relationships with regulators, utilities, government agencies, and local communities.
Ensure compliance with energy policies, grid requirements, land laws, and environmental guidelines.
Represent the company in industry forums and regulatory hearings.
Educational Qualification:
Should be a Masters/Graduate holder in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering with min 12 - 20 years of experience in wind industry, with at least 8–10 years in leadership roles.
Core competencies on WTG & BOP operations & maintenance.
Proven track record in wind farm development, operations, or asset management.
Experience in managing portfolios of wind farm assets, developing productive partnerships, and staying attuned to industry trends and developments.
Strong understanding of wind turbine technology, grid integration, SCADA, and O&M best practices
Ability to work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Willingness to extensive travelling
