Role: Senior Production Planning Engineer - Valve Manufacturing
Location: Rabale, Navi Mumbai
Job Overview:
The Senior Production Planning Engineer will be responsible for managing the production planning activities within the valve manufacturing process. This role involves ensuring that the production schedules are optimized, resources are allocated efficiently, and production goals are met within the established time frames. The Senior Production Planning Engineer will collaborate with various departments, including procurement, operations, and quality control, to ensure smooth production flow while adhering to quality standards and safety regulations
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Scheduling: Develop and manage detailed production schedules for valve manufacturing to meet customer demand, ensure optimal use of resources, and minimize downtime. Coordinate with engineering and production teams to align manufacturing plans with capacity.
- Resource Management: Plan and allocate resources such as materials, equipment, and labor to ensure smooth and efficient production. Work with the procurement team to ensure that raw materials and components are available when needed.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure there are sufficient materials available for production while avoiding overstocking. Coordinate with supply chain teams to forecast demand and optimize stock levels.
- Lead Time Optimization: Analyze production lead times and identify opportunities to reduce delays. Work on improving production workflows to ensure on-time delivery of products to customers.
- Production Coordination: Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to ensure that manufacturing processes align with quality standards and customer requirements. Address production issues and bottlenecks promptly.
- Capacity Planning: Ensure that production capacity is aligned with forecasted demand. Adjust production plans to accommodate fluctuations in demand or unforeseen challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Process Improvement: Continuously analyze production processes and identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare regular reports on production status, schedules, and inventory levels. Provide senior management with data-driven insights and recommendations for improving production processes.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with procurement, quality control, and engineering departments to ensure that production materials meet the necessary standards, and any product design or process modifications are integrated into the production schedule.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all production planning activities comply with safety standards and industry regulations. Promote a culture of safety and efficiency within the production environment.
- Customer Communication: Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to communicate any changes in production schedules or delivery dates. Ensure customer expectations are met.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in production planning, preferably in a valve manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of production planning processes, inventory control, and scheduling techniques.
- Proficiency in using production planning software (e.g., ERP systems like BAAN, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Knowledge of valve manufacturing processes (e.g., casting, machining, assembly, testing) and related materials.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process optimization methodologies, desirable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve production-related challenges.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
